Get Her Look – Diana Dors
Beautiful Diana Dors may be thought of as the British Marilyn, but we think our very own 50s bombshell had something special all of her own. Even when Diana became older, and her bombshell figure filled out a bit, , there was something soft, and warming about her.
She had the classic 50s blonde pin-up girl – red lips, lots of lashes, and blonde hair, but there was something just a bit softer about her look. If you want to look like Diana, and the picture we’ve chosen as inspiration was when she was just 20, we suggest ditching the bright red, for a softer, coral coloured lipstick.
We love Clarins’ Joli Rouge in 727 Gold Plum (£15.50, www.clarins.co.uk), with a slick of Clinique’s Superbalm Moisturising Gloss over the top (£12.50, www.clinique.co.uk) in Mango, for a sexy, yet soft, Dors pout.
For those thick, full lashes, and when wearing no eyeliner – Diana often omitted it – we adore Bobbi Brown’s Extreme Party Mascara (£17.50, www.bobbibrown.co.uk) which adds volume, intense colour and length.
Diana did have a slightly fuller face, so blusher was probably important to her. There are two perfect items in the new Cabana Corals range from Bobbi Brown. For blusher, try the new Cabo Coral shade of the award-winning Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks (£16.50).
“For best results on cheeks, use your fingers or a makeup wedge to apply,” says Bobbi. “Start on the apples of cheeks, blending up towards hairline, then downwards to blend and soften colour.”
We also love the new Nectar shade of the best-selling Shimmer Brick (£29.50), and think Diana Dors would have approved of a little shimmer from time to time.Sweep your brush through all five shades and dust it lightly on top of your blusher.
Diana had an amazing body, like many of our bombshells, and her gorgeous soft skin was peachy and pale. If you want to look after your skin, then make sure you always use a body moisturiser. We suggest the new Total Nourishment Body Moisturiser from Jergens (£4.99, www.boots.com, from February). It contains Cranberry, to stimulate cell turnover, and Acai Berry extract, which has ten times as many anti-oxidants and vitamins as grapes and twice as many as blueberries – it’s a real superfood for the skin.
For a sexy glow, just like Diana, after your moisturise, add a sweep of Benefit’s Bathina Body So Fine (£24.50, http://www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk) – a true bombshell product if there ever was one. And did you know you van even add a touch of this white blossom scented balm to your hair to tame flyaways?
We reckon Diana would have approved – and she’s much sexier than the Bathina covergirl, don’t you think?
