Red carpet feet

March 5, 2010

Think of all those stars on the red carpet on Oscar night. Think how many feet that is? How many toes? And how much preparation. March heralds the start of spring and although it’s still cold enough for boots, an event like the Academy Awards means it’s time to strip off those socks, and get the feet red carpet ready.

For a bit of fun, guess who our bombshell feet belong to – answers at the end of the post!

Who do the bombshell feet belong to?

Whilst the stars tread the red on Sunday night, we at BBHQ will be self-pedicuring, and getting our feet ready for….well, any invites to glamorous events are always welcome!

We’ll be starting with the Ped-Egg (£9.99,, also available at Boots, Asda and Superdrug) – voted Product of the Year, with 2.5million sold in 18 months, we have to agree this is pretty amazing!

It’s an egg-shaped foot file and gently removes calluses, corns and hard dry skin to reveal baby soft heels and toes. Its oval shape means you can collect shavings in a pod without leaving a mess. It really does work, and it fits into the palm of your hand, making it easy and comfortable to use .

But use it only once a fortnight, and best time to use it is before bed, popping moisturiser on afterwards and then socks.

Talking of moisturisers – there are loads out there for feet. We have tried five for you, and we’ll post our Tried and Tested here tomorrow.

If you don’t fancy the Ped-Egg, then try a foot scrub instead – we love Rituals Yogi Secret Sensational Detox Foot Scrub (£9.90,

Thissoftens and cools, combining the ancient Ayuverdic ingredients, Holy Basil for its calming effect, and Fresh Mont for revitalising and cooling properties.

For your red carpet toe nails, make sure you use a good professional nail file, like the one from Nails Inc (£5,, and always file in one direction only.

Then it’s time for nail polish of course. Go natural with Nails Inc South Molton Street (£10.50); the perfect pale pink, or go for bombshell red with the simply named ‘Red’ from Champneys new nail polish range (£5 each,, or Ruby & Millie Red 410C (£9.50,
